I have insomnia and i really can’t fall asleep at all i’ve tried since 11pm until now. I’ve tossed and turned many times and i don’t know the real reason why i can’t fall asleep. I think it could be because of my insomnia but I’m not sure. It’s like 2:15 am in the morning on the east coast right now and i can’t fall asleep and i feel sleep deprived. What could i do so i could fall asleep ? I feel so crappy right now because i can’t fall asleep.

dude. same here. its like 3:30 where i am and i have the worst insomnia. And a chem midterm tommorow. Forget sleep aids cuz usually your insomnia will counter them. I popped 4 already…
Try natural stuff like running everyday, warm milk, yoga, its mainly caused from stress and the more you dont sleep the more stressed you get. vicious cycle :-(
But for now maybe read? that puts me to sleep. or a recording of my chem lecture.. And try sleeping in a place you dont normally sleep: Like the floor! sounds crazy but seriously, try it.
good luck! sweet dreams

Picture the most beautiful girl you have ever pictured in your entire life. Or picture a pretty fish. Just dream and concentrate on what would you like to do with that beautiful girl or that pretty fish.. Eventually when you keep concentrating and your thoughts and visions are moving, you will eventually fall asleep.

I’m 18. And i can’t sleep at night. I try so hard!.

I can sometimes fall asleep at like midnight because i’m so tired from no sleep.

and because of this no sleep i’ve been getting head spins constantly and headaches.

anyone been through this kind of thing??

Chosen Answer:

I’m not usually one for alternative medicine, but when it comes to sleeping, I always suggest Valerian Root. It’s perfectly natural and it helped me to sleep. I didn’t find it addictive either. Once I was back into a regular sleeping pattern, I stopped taking it and slept fine after that.

I’ve been on Ambien cr for a couple of years and it doesn’t put me to sleep. Sometimes I take two and it still doesn’t work. I have trouble falling asleep and staying asleep. Are there stronger meds out there?
I see a psychiatrist for meds. I’ll definately tell him. It seems mostly likely I have just built a tolerance to it, as some of you have suggested.

Chosen Answer:

Hi–Taking prescription sleeping pills, such as eszopiclone (Lunesta), zaleplon (Sonata) or ramelteon (Rozerem), until there’s less stress in your life may help you get to sleep until you notice benefits from behavioral treatments. Ramelteon is the newest sleep medication, and it doesn’t appear to have the same risk of dependency and rebound insomnia that the other sleep medications do. However, all of these medications may cause severe allergic reaction, facial swelling and complex sleep-related behaviors such as sleep-driving and preparing and eating food while asleep.Doctors generally don’t recommend relying on prescription sleeping pills for more than a few days because they may cause side effects, and developing your ability to sleep without the help of medication is the goal. In addition, sleeping pills can, rarely, be habit-forming and become less effective after a while. The antidepressant trazodone (Desyrel) also may help with insomnia. Over-the-counter sleep aids contain antihistamines that can induce drowsiness. They’re OK for occasional sleepless nights, but they, too, often lose their effectiveness the more you take them. Many sleeping pills contain diphenhydramine, which can cause difficulty urinating and a drowsy feeling in the daytime.

Good Luck & Take Care!! ; )

I’ve taken 30 ambien over the last two days and now I feel horribly depressed and worthless.

Chosen Answer:

hmm probably considering you took way more than just a therapeutic dose of Ambien. What was the point of asking this question, it’s kind of obvious. Did you think it might be from something other than your overdosing on sleeping medication? because I highly doubt that. I suggest drinking some tea, exercising, taking some vitamins and trying not to take the entire script of Ambien in just 2 days…

Hello,

I can’t sleep, and I’d rather continuously refresh the yahoo answers page than stare blankly at the ceiling..you’re probably the wrong people to ask at this time, but how can I beat this insomnia?

I’m considering staying up all night and all today tomorrow, to reset my body clock. Will this work, perhaps?
ps. i dont like the effects of sleeping pills
thanks everyone

Chosen Answer:

to reset your body clock you must choose a partiular time to go to sleep and keep it constant for always. prepare for this time by having a hot bath (makes you sleepy) don’t eat heavy but don’t go to sleep on an empty stomach.. switch off the lights after your set time, so that your brian knows its time to sleep. It will start to work only after some time, but when it does, it sticks. I’ve done it and it works, my eyes start becoming heavy when my bedtime approaches (even if i don’t consciously know what the time is!) good luck

I just got out of the ER and the doctor prescribed Vicodin and Ambien. I forgot to ask him how I take them while I was there, so is it okay to take both at once? What side effects should I expect?
I also took another prescription for nausea called promethazine.

Chosen Answer:

They are fine if taken as prescribed. Both are depressants, and both will make you drowsy (especially the Ambien), but it is not dangerous to take the two together as prescribed at bedtime. Ambien works VERY quickly, only take it right as you are going to bed.

I wouldn’t take more than what is prescribed though if you are taking them together.

I have what I think is starting to turn into insomnia. I have been awake since 7am yesterday. I don’t feel safe being alone (due to past things that have happened) I don’t feel safe sleeping alone (same reason as above) I saw my bf today before work, and I did get around fifty minutes of sleep, which amazed me. But as soon as he wrapped his arms around me and help me close I felt safe. I’m not sure what to do, seeing as I can’t spend every night with him (I’m 16) But I haven’t been sleeping at all. Or when I do, I have nightmares. And I only sleep around 2-3 hours. My bf wants to help, but I’m unsure of what to do, and so is he. Anyone with experiences? Or suggestions? (Sleep meds do not work for me, nor do anti-anxiety, or tylenol/advil pm) Some help/advice would be awesome.

Chosen Answer:

The problem is in this fear you have for your safety.

I really feel for you.

How about trying to make yourself feel extra safe?

Locking you windows and bolting doors with added security may ease your mind? Don’t bother yourself with what other people might say about these extra precautions…you need your sleep!

I don’t really know the reason for your uneasiness but I hope that helps a little.

I think I have insomnia…. for a few days already…

I can fall into sleep within 15 mins after I go to bed…
but after about 30 mins, I wake up again, and couldn’t get into sleep until 3-4am….then i sleep again, and wake up at around 7am….

i have experienced this for a few days already…should i go see a doctor or should i wait and see if things chnage back forst?

thx

Chosen Answer:

I’m not a medical professional and you shouldn.t take any merit in what I say. You should seek qualified advice. Now for my responce. I would advice you to seek a doctors advice, more so if you can afford and have medical insurance, there is no reason not to be safe. You could try drinking a relaxing tea. Might be stress related if you are stressing. Or maybe you need to do a small work out to get yourself tired enough to not wake up. Im unsure, there could be many reasons. I hope you find what you are looking for and get feeling better. byebye

ive flown internationally many times and never fall asleep, not even a nap. it runs in the family. my mom takes ambien before she goes to bed soemtimes, should i take one pill and take it on the plane? im 15 years old male btw.

Chosen Answer:

I wouldn’t recommend taking it if you haven’t previously used it and know how it will affect you.
It has been known to cause sleepwalking, and some behaviors in people that aren’t normal for them. The last thing you want to happen is have a similar reaction while you’re on a plane. You just might find yourself in jail.
You also don’t want to attempt to bring something like a pill onto a plane that isn’t prescribed to you. You can be arrested for that, too.
Maybe bring something that isn’t prescription-strength, like Tylenol PM. It makes you really sleepy, and isn’t known to cause unusual behavioral side effects.

  • What Is Ambien (Zolpidem) ?

Ambien is a sedative, also called a hypnotic. It affects chemicals in your brain that may become unbalanced and cause sleep problems (insomnia).

Ambien is used for the short-term treatment of insomnia (difficulty falling or staying asleep). This medication causes relaxation to help you fall asleep.
