Don’t answer if you don’t know. If it depends on physical factors, then – Male, 150-200 lbs. Also what would you recommend?
Chosen Answer:
I took 45 mg. and I had dreams of men wearing turbans holding oil lamps. It was really weird. I take dalmane now, a real drug. But I would never recommend you take 45 mg. of ambien. And I’ve tried snorting it and it is best taken orally. I’d just take 20 mg. to sleep at night max.

I haven’t slept more than 2 hours for the past week, and when I wake up, I feel extremely unrefreshed. Even though I feel really tired, I still can’t fall asleep. There’s no change in temperature/jet lag or anything like that. How do I know if I have insomnia and how can I stop it if I do?
Chosen Answer:
When not getting to sleep bothers you and effects your life and there was no apparent cause (such as a recent death) to the point that you feel the need to ask a doctor about it/take sleeping pills.
I wouldn’t worry. You either have insomnia or you don’t. I am pretty sure this will go away soon.

My doctor prescribed me ambien because i have been having trouble sleeping for two months. Can you please share your experiences with this medication? Thanks
Chosen Answer:
I know someone close to me who used to take it, and trust me it’s a serious drug!
It kicks in so quickly, and it pretty much knocks you out. I would suggest you try more natural ways before giving in to drugs. I think drugs should always be the last resource, for many reasons such as dependency, long term effects, side effects, etc. If you do decide to take it make sure you are familiar with the side effects. Also make sure you give yourself plenty of time to rest at night, because if you don’t you will probably be zombie like in the morning. Make sure no driving after taking ambien!!!

I have had insomnia for about 2 years and it is nearly impossible for me to sleep. I have to get up to work at 6 a.m., but don’t get to sleep till -at best- 5:30. Does anyone know a way for me to get more sleep?

This question is awfully hard to answer without lifestyle details, however, it definitly seems that you have a pretty bad case of insomnia. While Im not an insomniac, my friend used to be and he would just not sleep for a couple days and then just collapse.
The norm of what you can do is take sleeping pills, avoid caffiene consumption, and try incest in your pillow or something like that. If you have a stressful lifestyle then you should pickup meditation to get rid of it and allow sleep. A visit of the family practitioner is also something you should do.
Now what my friend did was he searched up the internet after being on pills for awhile and found “brainwave technology” soundtracks, now I dont know if it was something about him that built well with this but the result was that he essentially “cured” insomnia.
But anyways, my advice is
1. Do simple lifestyle changes (no caffiene, no eating past 6, maybe a warm bath, get relaxed, etc.)
2. Try meditation or yoga if you’re stressful
3. See a Doctor
4. Try “brainwave technology” , I only know that it worked for my friend, but I also belive it has a 60 day guarantee.

I haven’t been able to get adequate sleep for two weeks now and I’m 9 weeks pregnant. Is there any positive relationship between insomnia and early pregnancy? I have no nausea or vomiting, no urinary frequency so far. I am very tired during days but wide awake during nights. All non-medication methods of dealing with the sleep problem that I tried have been unsuccessful so far.

I don’t know if it’s common (most women complain of being too tired in the first trimester), but it does happen. I sometimes experienced what you described, being exhausted during the day but not being able to fall asleep at night, but not so often that it was a problem. There might be some medications you can take with your doctor’s approval if it’s really bad. I know Benedryl is OK to take during pregnancy and that stuff will knock you out cold, but talk to your doctor first.

I have insomnia and i really can’t fall asleep at all i’ve tried since 11pm until now. I’ve tossed and turned many times and i don’t know the real reason why i can’t fall asleep. I think it could be because of my insomnia but I’m not sure. It’s like 2:15 am in the morning on the east coast right now and i can’t fall asleep and i feel sleep deprived. What could i do so i could fall asleep ? I feel so crappy right now because i can’t fall asleep.

dude. same here. its like 3:30 where i am and i have the worst insomnia. And a chem midterm tommorow. Forget sleep aids cuz usually your insomnia will counter them. I popped 4 already…
Try natural stuff like running everyday, warm milk, yoga, its mainly caused from stress and the more you dont sleep the more stressed you get. vicious cycle ![]()
But for now maybe read? that puts me to sleep. or a recording of my chem lecture.. And try sleeping in a place you dont normally sleep: Like the floor! sounds crazy but seriously, try it.
good luck! sweet dreams

Picture the most beautiful girl you have ever pictured in your entire life. Or picture a pretty fish. Just dream and concentrate on what would you like to do with that beautiful girl or that pretty fish.. Eventually when you keep concentrating and your thoughts and visions are moving, you will eventually fall asleep.
