i am on 50mg of Pamelor which is an anti-depressant. its a low dosage and is used to prevent chronic migraines rather than depression. i’ve been having trouble sleeping lately and want to take an Ambien tonight. would the combination cause any weird problem for me?
Chosen Answer:
It shouldn’t just take one ambien, and it shouldn’t effect you in any negative way, i am on anti depressants, and was on ambien and it didn’t do anything bad.

I’m just curious what would ambien and promethazine do if taken at the same time?
Chosen Answer:
That sounds like a poor man’s “Purple Drank”. Using a sleeping pill instead of codeine in the drug you’re trying to emulate will drastically increase the risk of respiratory failure. The original is dangerous enough. What you just mentioned is even worse. If you go too far over the recommended medicinal dose you run a very high risk of passing out and your lungs shutting down.
The increased risk comes from the fact that both Promethazine and Ambien can stop your breathing at high doses. You’d be taking two drugs that, individually, could kill at a high dose.
All these drugs show up on a standard toxicology screen.
