Ambien Discussion

I took a 10mg ambien last night around 11pm and want to take risperdal tonight around 730pm -8:00 , (without the ambien tonight) just worried that they could interact somehow, havent been sleeping and taking risperdal is the only thing that helps sometimes.
Also took ]codeine at 6am is there
any interaction with these drugs , being that I am taking them spaced apart?

Chosen Answer:

There is a possibility of a moderate drug-drug interaction between these drugs. However, it may not occur in everybody taking these drugs together. So you could take these medicines together but it would be a good idea not to be alone when you take the first concommitant doses, just in case you did have any CNS or respiratory depression. If after the few doses you didn’t have any adverse effects then you should be fine. If your dose goes up then please have someone monitor you again.

I am starting the 7th grade tomorrow and I have been staying up really late, and whatever i do I cant fix my schedule. My mom said i should take ambien tonight to go to sleep but idk if i’m old enough. I am 12,I am afraid it will hurt me or something, and how common is it to sleep-walk while taking it?

Chosen Answer:

Ambien has an extremely high risk of dependency. I do not recommend you take it, or anyone except those with the most extreme of sleep disorders. You don’t need a drug like that to fall asleep. The best thing for you to do is get on a regular sleep schedule (which is what my doctor told me to do when I was depressed). Go to bed at a specific time at night and wake up at a specific time in the morning and your body will become accustom to it, and it will actually function much better. Try to develop a ritual at night to get your mind and your body prepared for sleep (ie. drink a cup of hot tea, brush your teeth, read a few pages of a book) before you actually fall asleep. Trust me! It helps a lot.

Good luck.

i am on 50mg of Pamelor which is an anti-depressant. its a low dosage and is used to prevent chronic migraines rather than depression. i’ve been having trouble sleeping lately and want to take an Ambien tonight. would the combination cause any weird problem for me?

Chosen Answer:

It shouldn’t just take one ambien, and it shouldn’t effect you in any negative way, i am on anti depressants, and was on ambien and it didn’t do anything bad.

if i have rare nights when i cant sleep i usually take xanax and ambien together, doctor said those 2 are fine.
but since i just got done taking zithromax today can i still take those tonight? or no?

Chosen Answer:

Xanax is extremely addictive and should’nt be taken for sleep disorders. Ambien should do the trick alone. Be careful w/ the xanax!

I have been suffering with sleep apnea for months now. After waiting three stressful weeks for the machine to arrive, I used it but only managed to get 3 hours of sleep. I also noticed, that before I had the machine my average time spent sleeping decreased. Tonight I am fully awake and I cannot sleep at all. Is it possible to have sleep apnea and insomnia together? I have serious depression already, so I think that this is a logical explanation. What do I do?

Chosen Answer:

Your not alone friend. I have both as you do and what I suggest is now that you have the machine, you go to your doctor and get a sleep aid that can be accompanied by an antihistamene. Let me tell you I am on Trazadone for sleep and hydroxyzine which is the antihistamene. Together they work wondurfully. Also you may be overweight which many are who have apnea. Try not to drink too much water and if you are getting up in the night to urinate often then ask your doctor for a diuretic which will reduce the overall body fluid in the body. You may want to look into the possibility of type 2 diabetes. Hope this helps. Hang in there it gets better.
p.s. I am awake by choice as i was off yesterday catnapping all day in the rainy weather. Just so you don’t ask yourself, Why is he not asleep then?” LOL

  • What Is Ambien (Zolpidem) ?

Ambien is a sedative, also called a hypnotic. It affects chemicals in your brain that may become unbalanced and cause sleep problems (insomnia).

Ambien is used for the short-term treatment of insomnia (difficulty falling or staying asleep). This medication causes relaxation to help you fall asleep.
