My doctor prescribed me ambien because i have been having trouble sleeping for two months. Can you please share your experiences with this medication? Thanks

I know someone close to me who used to take it, and trust me it’s a serious drug!
It kicks in so quickly, and it pretty much knocks you out. I would suggest you try more natural ways before giving in to drugs. I think drugs should always be the last resource, for many reasons such as dependency, long term effects, side effects, etc. If you do decide to take it make sure you are familiar with the side effects. Also make sure you give yourself plenty of time to rest at night, because if you don’t you will probably be zombie like in the morning. Make sure no driving after taking ambien!!!

I have had insomnia for about 2 years and it is nearly impossible for me to sleep. I have to get up to work at 6 a.m., but don’t get to sleep till -at best- 5:30. Does anyone know a way for me to get more sleep?

This question is awfully hard to answer without lifestyle details, however, it definitly seems that you have a pretty bad case of insomnia. While Im not an insomniac, my friend used to be and he would just not sleep for a couple days and then just collapse.
The norm of what you can do is take sleeping pills, avoid caffiene consumption, and try incest in your pillow or something like that. If you have a stressful lifestyle then you should pickup meditation to get rid of it and allow sleep. A visit of the family practitioner is also something you should do.
Now what my friend did was he searched up the internet after being on pills for awhile and found “brainwave technology” soundtracks, now I dont know if it was something about him that built well with this but the result was that he essentially “cured” insomnia.
But anyways, my advice is
1. Do simple lifestyle changes (no caffiene, no eating past 6, maybe a warm bath, get relaxed, etc.)
2. Try meditation or yoga if you’re stressful
3. See a Doctor
4. Try “brainwave technology” , I only know that it worked for my friend, but I also belive it has a 60 day guarantee.

ive flown internationally many times and never fall asleep, not even a nap. it runs in the family. my mom takes ambien before she goes to bed soemtimes, should i take one pill and take it on the plane? im 15 years old male btw.
Chosen Answer:
I wouldn’t recommend taking it if you haven’t previously used it and know how it will affect you.
It has been known to cause sleepwalking, and some behaviors in people that aren’t normal for them. The last thing you want to happen is have a similar reaction while you’re on a plane. You just might find yourself in jail.
You also don’t want to attempt to bring something like a pill onto a plane that isn’t prescribed to you. You can be arrested for that, too.
Maybe bring something that isn’t prescription-strength, like Tylenol PM. It makes you really sleepy, and isn’t known to cause unusual behavioral side effects.

besides lunesta because my insurance won’t pay for it. Is there a good old one that works like ambien used to work for me?
Chosen Answer:
The one that works the best for me is doxylamine succinate. I don’t have that sleepy feeling all day long after I’ve taken it. It works similarly to Ambien – you don’t necessarily feel tired, you just suddenly fall asleep. It’s sold over the counter, one of the brand names is Unisom. Just make sure you get the doxylamine version, rather than the benadryl version.
There are some other prescription sleep meds available, but I’ve not tried them. Some people use restoril, which is a benzodiazepine. There are some other benzos that are also used for insomnia. This comes with a greater chance of dependence, and tolerance builds up over time.
Lifestyle changes that help with sleep patterns are great, but they don’t necessarily help everyone. Some people just have problems with sleeping, and some of us (like those who work nights – by choice), struggle when someone wants us to live on a normal schedule. ![]()

I’ve been taking Ambien CR for about a month now and my short term memory has been just awful. I know, I know, I need to get off of it, and I’m planning on doing that tonight. Once I stop taking CR, though, will my short term memory boost and be back to normal or will I have to live with a bad short term memory for a long time?
Chosen Answer:
Yes, I used to take it and I got concerned at the number of times I woke up the next morning unable to remember what I had done or said after taking it the previous evening. I was gaining weight too because I often got up and ate after taking it. I stopped taking it and was back to normal almost immediately.

i am on 50mg of Pamelor which is an anti-depressant. its a low dosage and is used to prevent chronic migraines rather than depression. i’ve been having trouble sleeping lately and want to take an Ambien tonight. would the combination cause any weird problem for me?
Chosen Answer:
It shouldn’t just take one ambien, and it shouldn’t effect you in any negative way, i am on anti depressants, and was on ambien and it didn’t do anything bad.

I was reading an article about the sleepwalking side effects of ambien. I have been using ambien for the past year with no side effects like this. I was just wondering what some of you have experience while using ambien.
Chosen Answer:
I used to take Ambien for about 3 years and when I went off of it cold turkey the only thing that happened was I could not sleep for about a week. Some people have withdrawal symptoms but thankfully I did not.
